The New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) Bureau of Occupational Health and Injury Prevention (BOHIP) subject matter experts have in-depth knowledge of injury priority areas and associated prevention strategies. They also have established a strong network of collaborative relationships with other national, state, regional and local agencies, and non-profit organizations. Subject matter experts collaborate with transportation and traffic safety professionals to coordinate engineering, enforcement, and education efforts across the state. NYS DOH BOHIP provides data and injury prevention education to compliment partner agencies’ engineering and enforcement strategies. Program components run by the NYS DOH BOHIP include Traffic Records; Pedestrian Safety; Occupant Protection (Children ages 0-12 and Teen Drivers); Drowsy Driving; Motorcycle Safety; Older Driver Safety; Bicycle and Other Wheeled Sports; and Micromobility. NYS DOH BOHIP considers high-risk populations when targeting outreach efforts.
