TTI’s Youth Transportation Safety (YTS) Program aims to save lives and prevent injuries among youth through education and peer-led outreach. Its vision is to promote safe practices in the transportation system for America’s youth. Founded in 2002, YTS focuses on ages 11-25, utilizing evidence-based models for resources and engagement strategies. Key initiatives include the Teens in the Driver Seat® Program (TDS) for junior high and high school students, the U in the Driver Seat Program (UDS) for college students in TX and WA, and the You in the Driver Seat (YDS) mobile app, focused on rewarding safe driving. Lastly the program collects and analyzes data on youth behaviors and beliefs in order to help improve traffic safety cultures in U.S. schools.
